Does an NRI Divorcee Need CENOMAR for Remarriage Abroad?

Nri Needs Cenomar for remarriage Abroad

Many from the Indian community abroad have insufficient information about CENOMAR. As it stands for Certificate of No Marriage, NRIs assume it as a certificate valid for the bachelors only. If you are one of those, knock this thought off.

Is CENOMAR an essential proof for singlehood?

Actually, this vital certificate is a legal proof of one’s single status. Yes, don’t look dagger at this fact! It’s indeed a significant document to extract the idea that the applicant is single. This fact is applicable on the ones who are divorcees also. The foreign governments seek it for procuring evidence of the person’s single status. Some volunteer NRI services providers, like www.S2NRI.com, render help in meeting convenience to get it.

Let’s go through the documents which a divorced NRI spouse will need to settle as married abroad.

  • Original Indian passport with photocopy.

  • Original valid identity proof of being an Indian native

  • Original birth certificate

  • Original affidavit for being consented parents of person belonging to Indian origin and also of his/her spouse’

  • Affidavit from Indian native’s parents that should be locally notarized and attested by Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)

  • Valid photocopies of parents of both spouses.

  • Original certificate of employment abroad (of Indian diaspora)

  • An affidavit (It should state that the applicant hails from India and his marital status is single. It also covers the statement that the spouse from abroad is his/her only life-partner and has children, if any, from the early marriage.)

  • Get the CENOMAR attested by SDM (Sub Divisional Magistrate) or Executive Magistrate or District Magistrate (DM) or court authority.

  • Its attestation by Home Department of the State concerned.

  • Thereafter, it is attested by the CPV of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Patiala House, Tilak Marg in New Delhi.

Getting these documents done, the applicant of this certificate from India must submit it to the consulate office of the country where he/she is intended to settle down post matrimony. There at the head office, they must attend one-on-one session with the consul. About it, the prior information about the interview has been sent by the consulate. Thereby, the application for the approval of the consulate authority is accepted.

The processing may last for 3 days to 3 weeks. The authority charges fee in return of the service also.
